What I'm saying on Twitter (rubbish usually)

Top 5 everythings from 2007

posted Friday, 21 December 2007

Well, goodbye 2007 - you've been a good year and I'm almost sorry to see you go.  2008 looks like it might be even better though.

So here are my top 5 everythings from the Superfood blog from 2007 - any disagreements or other nominations most welcome!

Top 5 things to eat in 2007

  1. Halibut with pea puree
  2. Scallops with Iberico ham, hazlenuts and sherry vinegar
  3. Venison chops with sloe gin and horn of plenty mushrooms
  4. Rhubarb and ginger wine trifle
  5. Broad beans and feta salad with grilled lamb

Top 5 books from 2007

  1. Pork and Sons
  2. Educating Peter
  3. Moro East (review forthcoming!)
  4. Morimoto
  5. Nobody Does It Better

And a few other tops:

There was a great champagne/English fizz tasting.
There was dinner at Petrus
There were two holidays - one in France, one in Corfu
And my favourite picture of the year - from Sea Bass with Fennel Mayonnaise.

All that remains to be said are two things:

1) I wish all the readers of Superfood a very happy Christmas season and a healthy, prosperous 2008
2) Please - if you haven't already - take part in the Menu For Hope Raffle.  Tickets are a mere $10 each with proceeds going to the worthy cause of feeding the poor and needy in Africa.  The prizes are fantastic - if you want to win the bottle of Chapel Down from me, the ticket number is UK37.  I can only ship this in the UK, but there are plenty of other prizes available.
Please support this worthy cause.  We've raised over $60,000 this year - with your help we can make this a really serious investment into feeding our cousins less fortunate than ourselves.  Enter Here...

Thank you Fiona - and the same for you too - we sadly finished the last of our blackberry jam made from your recipe just yesterday morning :( Still, the sevile oranges will be around soon so it's nearly time to go marmalade-a-making! Happy new year!
